Pressed flowers, cyanotypes and prints with plant pigments (2024)

You scared me
and then I accidentally
stepped into your heart
(something is wrong, I should call the ambulance, but there are no vehicles on this island)
We are at the salt water
I have to fix the break
and pull the holes in your heart
together with seaweed
put a jellyfish on the wound,
which then drips into the remaining cracks
and because your heart looks so beautiful now
I do the same with mine
lie down next to you
on the salty stones

The works were created at the biological station on the island of Hiddensee. This place prompted me to examine the flora around me more closely; plants are simply there, I can observe them, feel them and recognize them clearly, unlike thoughts they are not so ambiguous and indeterminate. I collected flowers, twigs, leaves and seaweed, identified the plants, pressed them, exposed them to make cyanotypes and smashed them with a stone to transfer their pigment print onto paper. This resulted in systematic plant studies on texture, color and form.
